FEEDING GUIDE

Below is a guide to help you select which vegetables and fruit to feed your pigs. When making a guinea pig meal, it's great to mix it up and provide them with variety. This is not only good for their diet, but it will also keep them excited about meal time (if indeed that is ever needed!!)

IMPORTANT WARNING: Not all vegetables and fruit are good for your piggies. For a list of those you should avoid, please scroll to the bottom of this page.

TOP NOSH | Every day

The following are great vegetables for guinea pigs and can be eaten every day:

Butterhead Lettuce

Cos Lettuce

Radicchio (Italian chicory)

Red Leaf Lettuce

Romaine Lettuce

Zucchini (courgette)

GREAT GRUB | 2-4 times a week

The following will be very popular but should be limited to 2-4 times a week:

Arugula Lettuce (Rocket Salad)

Cabbage*

Carrots

Celery

Cress

Cucumber

Endive Lettuce

Peppers*

Spring Greens

Squash (only the flesh)

Tomatoes

SUPER SNACK | 1-2 times a week

The following should only be given occasionally, so please limit to 1-2 times a week:

Potatoes (unless Sweet Potato)

Rhubarb

Seeds

Spring Onions

Tomato leaves and stalk

Notes:

*May cause bloating and gas if too much is eaten. 

**High in phosphorus and calcium which can cause health problems if too much is eaten.
