Bring a touch of Earth Child style to your guinea pigs’ home with these reusable fleece liners, designed to fit Ozzy Cages C&C enclosures.
Each liner combines a moisture-wicking, short-pile fleece top, an absorbent inner layer and a waterproof backing. The top layer is designed to draw moisture through to the absorbent layer beneath, while the waterproof backing helps prevent wee from passing through to the enclosure base.
The easy-sweep surface is where these liners really shine. Their smooth, velvet-style texture makes poops, hair and hay easier to sweep or brush away than from traditional thicker, fluffier fleece — handy for keeping on top of your piggies’ daily housekeeping!
These liners have a lighter, less bulky construction rather than a thick, fluffy finish. The short-pile surface feels different from traditional plush fleece, so please bear this in mind when choosing bedding for your small furries. They are machine washable and quick drying, making them practical to handle, clean and store between changes.
A Little Extra Help in Favourite Pee Spots
Like all bedding, fleece liners need regular cleaning and changing to keep your piggies’ home fresh and comfortable. Areas where your piggies spend lots of time can become damp sooner than the rest of the liner.
We recommend using additional washable pee pads or mats beneath hideys, around feeding areas and in other favourite pee spots. Check these regularly and replace them whenever damp or soiled. Spot-clean the main liner daily and change it when needed, rather than waiting for the whole liner to become wet. How often you need to change it will depend on your setup and your piggies’ habits.
The waterproof backing helps prevent wee from passing through the underside of the liner. However, wee deposited right at the edges can run around the liner and underneath it. A heavily leaking water bottle can also overwhelm the liner’s absorbent capacity, so check drinking areas regularly and replace wet bedding promptly.
Choose from a range of enclosure, kitchenette and loft sizes to add a little natural style to your piggies’ home.

WASHCARE GUIDE
Before first use:
Machine-wash the liner at 30°C with detergent only and no fabric conditioner to help prepare the fleece for wicking. Based on our experience, wicking improves after two or three washes. You can start using the liner after the first wash, but check for dampness regularly while its wicking performance is still improving.
Allow the liner to dry fully before placing it in your enclosure.
For everyday washing:
Brush off as much loose hay, bedding, hair and poop as possible before washing. We recommend placing the liner in a pet laundry bag to help catch remaining debris and keep it out of your washing machine.
Machine-wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle. Air-dry fully before reuse.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are these liners thick and fluffy?
These liners have a short-pile, velvet-style fleece surface and a lighter, less bulky construction. They feel different from traditional thick, fluffy fleece liners, so please bear this in mind when choosing bedding for your small furries.
Their smooth, easy-sweep surface makes hay, hair and poops easier to sweep or brush away, while the less bulky design makes them practical to handle, wash and store between changes.
Will the liner keep my guinea pigs’ feet dry all the time?
The fleece top is designed to draw moisture through to the absorbent layer beneath, but the liner won’t stay dry indefinitely. Favourite pee spots and areas where your piggies spend lots of time can become damp sooner than the rest of the enclosure.
Check the bedding regularly and replace damp or soiled pee pads and liners when needed.
Do I need additional pee pads?
We recommend using additional washable pee pads or mats in frequently used areas, such as beneath hideys, around feeding areas and in favourite pee spots. These provide extra absorbency where it’s needed most and can be changed separately from the main liner.
You’ll still need to check and change the main liner when needed — additional pads don’t replace regular cleaning.
Is the liner waterproof?
The liner has a waterproof backing designed to help prevent wee from passing through to the enclosure base. However, wee deposited right at the edges can run around the liner and underneath it.
A heavily leaking water bottle can also overwhelm the liner’s absorbent capacity. Check around the edges and drinking areas regularly, and don’t rely on the liner alone to protect household floors or furniture.
How often should I change the liner?
How often you need to change the liner depends on the number of guinea pigs, the size of their home, their favourite pee spots and whether you use additional pee pads.
Spot-clean daily, check for dampness and soiling, and replace additional pee pads whenever needed. Change the main liner sooner if it becomes damp or soiled — there’s no need to wait until the whole liner is wet.
As a general guide, we typically change the main liner once a week, with regular spot-cleaning and additional pee-pad changes in between.
Do I need to wash the liner before first use?
Yes — put your liner through the washing machine before using it to help the fleece wick effectively.
“Wicking” describes how a fabric draws moisture away from its surface. In these liners, it helps liquid pass through the fleece top into the absorbent layer beneath, rather than sitting on the surface.
Based on our experience using these liners at home, the wicking improves after two or three washes, so don’t expect the liner to perform at its best straight out of the packaging. You can start using it after the first wash, but check for dampness regularly while its wicking performance is still improving.
Wash at 30°C with detergent only and no fabric conditioner, following the washcare instructions. Allow the liner to dry fully before placing it in your piggies’ enclosure.
How do I remove hay, hair and poops?
The smooth, velvet-style surface makes hay, hair and poops easier to sweep or brush away than from traditional thicker, fluffier fleece.
Spot-clean daily and brush off as much loose hay, poop and hair as possible before washing. We recommend then placing the liner in a pet laundry bag to help catch remaining debris and keep it out of your washing machine.
How do I wash and dry the liner?
Brush off loose hay, poop and hair, then place the liner in a pet laundry bag. This helps contain any remaining debris during washing.
Machine-wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, using detergent without fabric conditioner. Air-dry fully before reuse.
Do not bleach, wring, twist, tumble-dry, iron or dry-clean.
Will the liner shrink?
A little shrinkage is expected with washing and use over time, so the liners have deliberately been designed slightly oversized to allow for this.
Always follow the washcare instructions: wash at 30°C and air-dry rather than tumble-drying.
Will these liners fit other C&C enclosures?
These liners are designed to fit Ozzy Cages C&C enclosures, kitchenettes and lofts. If you’re buying for another enclosure, compare its internal measurements with our size guide rather than relying on the size name alone.
All listed measurements are approximate, and the liners are made slightly oversized to allow for a little shrinkage over time.
What do I need for a 2x6 C&C enclosure?
Choose the 2x3 Liner (2 Pack). You’ll receive two 2x3 liners to place side by side in your 2x6 enclosure, rather than one single-piece liner.
What should I do if I’m having trouble with my liner?
Please contact us with your order number and a little information about what’s happening.
It helps to know how many times the liner has been washed, your washing routine and where you’re noticing dampness or moisture underneath.
If you’d like to send photos of the liner or your setup, please email enquiries@haypigs.com directly. We’ll be happy to look into it and help.
