A sweet and healthy substitute for chocolate, what a treat!
What is carob we hear you ask? Carob is a flowering evergreen tree that produces carob ‘pods’ (a lot like pea pods) that are dark brown in colour. They are sweet to taste (often used as a healthy substitute for chocolate) and are grown in the Mediterranean. They are renowned for their health benefits and most small animals love them!
Carob is rich in B vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium and other minerals. Carob pods do have a funny smell to humans, but please don’t be put off, your small furries will never forgive you!
