Bringing the outside in for naturally happy pets.
At HayPigs!® we only want to give our piggies the best. That is why we’ve partnered with Penny & Pepe® to bring you the finest pet grass money can buy. Penny & Pepe® are all about naturally happy pets.
What’s so special about this grass then?
Well, first of all, it’s pre-germinated. So instead of receiving a tray full of seeds, you’ll be sent 4 beautiful punnets of ready-grown pet grass that will provide instant satisfaction for you and your piggies! No more waiting around for seeds to germinate and hoping they will grow properly, it’s all ready for you!
Secondly, you’ll be supporting UK farmers and a UK brand. Penny & Pepe® are on a mission to provide the freshest, tastiest and healthiest pet grass on the market. Their produce is grown and packed in the UK (without pesticides or insecticides). All the packaging is recyclable or compostable, from the box and carry bags, to the trays.
And to cap it all off, if you take care of your pet grass, it will take care of you! Cut it, let it regrow and then come back for more – the gift that keeps on giving!
So, what is it made up of?
Penny & Pepe® pet grass is a mixture of wheat, oats and barley grass suitable for cats, dogs, reptiles, birds and (most importantly!) small animals. Just you wait, we know your guinea pigs will be wheeking at the top of their little lungs and popcorning with joy when they smell it! It’s lush!
What you’ll receive and how to use it:
With your order, you’ll receive four freshly prepared punnets of pet grass. We certainly don’t recommend you let your piggies eat this all at once (because they will totally want to!) The idea is that you cut off small portions of your grass at a time and hand-feed it to them, or sprinkle it around their den. Consider it as a treat for them rather than a main meal! For more details, please check out our guide below. We recommend you read all this information before placing an order.
Please note; due to the fresh nature of this product, we can only supply orders to UK addresses.
To provide you with the freshest, most luxurious pet grass we can, all orders are sent directly from our partners, Penny & Pepe®. If you order any additional HayPigs!® goodies today, expect them to arrive in a separate parcel. Please note; our next day delivery service is not available on this product.
This product is only available for UK delivery.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR PRODUCT
Remove your pet grass from the carry bag and place it on a tray, dish or in an open Tupperware box. Make sure you water the product every other day from the base to keep it nice and hydrated. Light regular trimming will help the product retain its quality and height. We recommend putting the grass in a spot where it can get plenty of sunlight, like a windowsill for example.
It you look after your grass carefully; you will get several cuts from one punnet. Please do note though; the nutritional value of the grass will deteriorate over time so we recommend replenishing your supply when you sense the growth is slowing down or the grass has lost its vibrant green colour and freshness.
As mentioned in the product description above, we recommend this product is regarded as a treat rather than a main meal. Guinea pigs have very sensitive tummies so you need to introduce them to fresh grass slowly and in small portions. If you notice any signs of bloated stomach, refrain from feeding further and speak to your veterinary practitioner immediately.
For more advice on feeding guinea pigs’ grass, please see our grass guide by clicking here. Always follow the specific dietary advice for your pet and do consult your veterinary practitioner if you are unsure about this.
To use this product, simply trim off a portion of grass and then hand feed it to your piggies. This will not only be a real treat for them, but can also help with bonding between you and your piggy. As an alternative to hand feeding, you can place a small portion of grass in their bowl or sprinkle it around their den. Remember, foraging is great for their mental well-being, so placing small treats around their dwelling (for them to find) is really good for them.
Keep your grass on a tray, dish or in an open Tupperware box, that way you can water it from the base without it leaking out of the bottom of the grass tray! Positioning on a kitchen windowsill is ideal as you are right by the taps for when you need to water it.
You can keep you grass outside. We’ve placed a few punnets in a planter with soil underneath. This is fairly easy to keep and an ideal way to save some space. We found that the grass even rooted itself providing extra nutrition and making it last a lot longer. For those that only have access to a small balcony or courtyard, this is also the perfect way to cultivate your own grass for your piggies!
Don’t allow your pet to eat the tray or carry bags, it won’t be good for them. We strongly recommend that you do not put this product in with your guinea pigs, it is intended to be used in accordance with our advice above (i.e. the grass is cut and presented to your piggies).
The tray contains peat, so please take care placing the product on surfaces that may be easily stained.

ABOUT PENNY & PEPE®
Bringing the outside in for naturally happy pets.
One of our colleagues supports The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre in Sidlesham and noticed that the animals, although well loved, healthy and cared for, had limited interaction with the outdoors, so she took along some of our living herbs in pots. That led us to think about how we could apply our 30 years of growing expertise to our pets – and we developed ready grown living pet grass to bring the outside in.
Our purr-pose is to bring the outside in for naturally happy pets enjoying natural behaviour in enriched environments. We believe pets are part of the family and it’s important they feel as comfortable and happy as possible.
Our brand name was inspired by a cat and a rabbit in The Cat & Rabbit Rescue centre: Penny was inspired by an older, cuddly tabby and Pepe was inspired by a cheeky rabbit.
Penny & Pepe® is a brand of Vitacress. Vitacress have 30 years experience and expertise in growing food standard living herbs, supplying 20m living herb pots per year.
